Silk is a natural fibre that is biodegradable. Silk is spun from the cocoons of the larvae of the mulberry silkworm. A cocoon consists of 3000–4000 m of thread and approx. 1 kg of cocoons rarely yield more than 200 g of pure silk, making the silk fibre an exclusive material. The natural softness, beautiful fall and high level of comfort of silk makes it one of the best materials to use for clothing.
Viscose is a regenerated wood fibre that is biodegradable and in the same family as with cupro, modal and lyocell. Often, viscose is used as an alternative to silk, since the fibre fineness of viscose allow for the same lightness as silk. Viscose has good durability and retains colour better than cotton. In addition, viscose has a good absorption capacity, which makes the clothes comfortable to wear on hot days.
